Dr Alastair MacGilchrist MD, FRCP (Edinburgh), FRCPS (Glasg)

Having trained in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Birmingham and the USA, I was appointed to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh in 1992. My special interest is the liver, and I have played a major role in the establishment and continued success of the Scottish Liver Transplant Unit. I have a wide clinical practice which encompasses all areas of both liver and gastrointestinal disease, including diagnostic and therapeutic upper gastrointestinal, colonoscopic and biliary endoscopy. I am currently the secretary of the Scottish Society of Gastroenterology and a member of Council of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, and have previously served as the secretary of the Scottish Society of Physicians and as a non-executive director of UK Transplant.
