Dr Kelvin Palmer, MD, FRCP (London, Edinburgh), FRCPS (Glasg)

I trained in Sheffield, London and San Diego, USA before becoming a Consultant. I am a senior Edinburgh Gastroenterologist, based at the Western General Hospital, Royal Infirmary and Spire Murrayfield Hospital and have interests and expertise in a full range of adult gastroenterology. I undertake all diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures including upper endoscopy, colonoscopy and ERCP.
In addition to my clinical interests I have numerous local and national administrative roles in Gastroenterology, including:
Past chairman British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) Endoscopy committee
Past Chairman Joint Advisory Group for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (UK-wide group that defines standards for practice and training of endoscopy)
President BSG 2008-9
Chairman, SIGN Guidelines committee (Gastrointestinal haemorrhage – published 2008)
Ex- Associate Postgraduate Dean, Medicine; South-East Scotland , 2001-6.
